Why buy organic?

One of the funnest things to do as an new parent can be dressing your little one.  Those tiny onesies and sweet leggings are irresistible!  I know when I found out I was having a daughter with my first pregnancy, one of the first things I did was buy all the cute little girl clothes I could find!

In the midst of all of the excitement of a new baby, you may not consider what’s in the clothing you are purchasing or how fabric choices may contribute to living a more natural lifestyle. I didn’t initially. But since clothing is in constant contact with a baby’s delicate and sensitive skin, buying organic is definitely the best way to go. When shopping for children’s clothing, you’ll find that most children’s clothing is made out of cotton.  What the label won’t tell you is that unless that cotton is organic (and even organic choices aren’t guaranteed 100% chemical-free), it has often been treated with harmful chemicals that can’t always be washed away and, thus, could be absorbed by your baby’s skin.

Choosing clothing made of sustainable fibers with non-toxic dyes is the safest option and will keep harmful chemicals and toxins away from your baby’s skin.  Look for clothing that is made out of GOTS organic cotton with non-toxic dyes and inks, and fair labor practices.  Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world’s leading textile processing standard for organic fibers and requires that the clothing is 95 percent organic and has no toxic dyes or finishes. Organic cotton is grown in a way that uses methods and materials that lessen the impact on our environment.

All of our clothing is GOTS 100% organic and printed with low impact dyes so it is completely safe for your little one's skin.  Not only that, but it is super stylish as well!

Why buy handmade?

Buy handmade and you support an artist.   Each handmade item is about people and not machines. It’s about the time and effort that goes into each piece of work.  The level of care, creativity and quality that goes into a handmade piece is unparalleled by mass-produced goods. Not only are you supporting a small business but you are also reducing the impact of fashion on the environment. Fast fashion is one of the biggest polluters on our earth and we hope that we can help reduce some of that impact. The things I make are the things I would buy!  I appreciate each and every order, and love our customers! Wondering about our pricing? Check out our FAQ section. Thank you for supporting handmade!
